CHAINS

In most cases, many companies have often neglected the importance of chain lubrication. As a result, chains used in the industries suffer unnecessarily short lives. This lead to increment in expenses for replacing whole chains.

The current chain lubrication practice consists of applying a heavy oil or grease to the chain external. Although this does a nice job of lubricating the sprockets and the outside of the chain, it gives little protection to most vulnerable areas such as the contacting surfaces inside the pin, bushing and roller. Most of the chain failures are caused by several factors:

  • When inner part of the chain is not properly lubricated, this will subsequently lead to corrosion and wears. Hence, the chain may stretched or kinked up.
  • As the chain operates at a high speed, centrifugal force may draw out the lubricant leaving no or little protection from friction, wears and temperature.
  • Environmental condition is also one of the factors that contributes to chain failures. When operating in dusty or wet condition, dirt and water may trap inside the chain that can create friction and corrosion.

To extend chain life, we have selected the appropriate lubricants based on industrial requirements that include wide operating temperature range, speed and loading pressure.
